Specifically, Georgiadis remarked on what he believed affected New Democracy: “Various things, there is no doubt. The Marriage Equality Act certainly cost us, no doubt. It impacted us either through voter abstention or by pushing many voters to the right of New Democracy.”

He added, “Right and wrong in politics is a broader concept. Since the prime minister believed that he was serving certain values, he had to act accordingly. If you ask me if it hurt or helped, it obviously hurt us in the end. Velopoulos, Natsios, and Latinopoulou are now reaping the benefits.”
