According to larissanet.gr, Governor Kouretas convened an urgent meeting with the Deputy Regional Governor of Trikala and officials from the Veterinary Service. He emphasised that the Region of Thessaly is responsible for the proper management and sanitary burial of diseased animals.
In response, Kouretas has replaced the head of Trikala Veterinary Medicine with another veterinarian from the Trikala Regional Office. A disciplinary and administrative investigation into the matter will commence promptly.
Governor Kouretas also announced his intention to file a formal complaint with the Prosecutor of Trikala to explore potential criminal charges. “Individual responsibility is a priority of our administration,” he stated, underscoring the commitment to accountability and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
