This measure will remain in place until the Water Directorate of the Decentralized Administration of Thessaly confirms the safety of the water through laboratory tests.

The affected area includes numerous popular urban and peri-urban beaches, such as Anavros, Plakes, Nautikos Omilos, Akti Xenia, Alykes, Agios Stefanos, Amaryllis, Kritharia, Marathos, and Amfanes, many of which have previously been awarded Blue Flags for their water quality.

The ban was enacted in response to the unusual and concerning phenomenon of dead fish appearing along the coastline. Authorities are awaiting detailed water quality reports before allowing the public to resume swimming.
