According to the police statement, the case has been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office, and the Attica Security Directorate is preparing a case file.
The official statement from ELAS reads: “During the morning hours today, a foreign detainee was found hanged by police officers in the holding area of Omonia Police Department. The individual had been arrested the night before (30-09-2024) for damaging a patrol vehicle. The case has been referred to the competent Prosecutor’s Office, and a case file is being prepared by the Attica Security Directorate. A Medical Examiner and a team from the Criminal Investigations Directorate have been called to the scene.
It is noted that the aforementioned foreign national was in the detention area along with 11 other prisoners.”
