“We would be moved by any concern for starting the trial if you did not stand by the perpetrators instead of the victims,” Karystianou posted. “Those responsible for concealing evidence, destroying videos, and manipulating audio to mask the truth about illegal cargo are known. But rather than holding them accountable, arrogance and indifference prevail,” she said.

According to Karystianou, key evidence revealing that “the children in the canteen did not die on impact but were burned alive” was deliberately overlooked. This included a technical report by a respected professor, which documented the presence of roughly 30 tons of hydrocarbons linked to the explosion. “The scientific inconsistency around silicone oil combustion was used to stall a thorough investigation into the illegal cargo,” she asserted. “All involved parties are known, and under a true Rule of Law, they would be imprisoned.”

Addressing Vozeberg’s comments directly, Karystianou argued that her support of government narratives “undermines European legitimacy” and bypasses her role as President of the European Commission. “This is unprecedented. I can’t imagine anything so inappropriate has ever happened in Brussels,” Karystianou added, accusing Vozeberg of an “embarrassing” disregard for European judicial standards.

The dispute has drawn attention to issues of political immunity, with Karystianou referencing former Transport Minister Costas Karamanlis, who she claimed evaded accountability under the government’s protection. “If he were truly innocent, he would seek vindication in court rather than hiding behind the immunity his government grants him. As a lawyer, you should know this,” she said.

Karystianou closed her statement with a call to unity, urging Vozeberg to abandon divisive rhetoric. “Stop treating this as a partisan issue,” she said, warning that her constituents—right-wing or left—“will not accept their children being considered expendable, no matter how they voted.”
