“In just three days, expressions of solidarity for Nikos poured in from a broad spectrum of parties, organisations, collectives, and individuals, transcending political affiliations,” the committee stated.

The remand process was met with protests outside the Evelpidon courts, where hundreds of activists, organisation members, and citizens gathered. The demonstration was twice disrupted by police interventions, which the committee described as acts of repression.

The committee’s statement continues:

“Our struggle for Nikos Romanos’ release and for exposing this state-led witch hunt has already begun. The Ampelokipi case exemplifies the inflated indictments and fabricated accusations used to stifle dissent.

It is imperative that we reignite a broader conversation among the youth, workers, and the public about the real objectives behind these so-called counterterrorism measures. These actions are direct attacks on democratic and popular rights and freedoms. We must organise and resist, ensuring their complete abolition.

Let us reject the narrative of counterterrorism being used to strip away our collective rights and freedoms.

Immediate release of fighter Nikos Romanos!

WHEN THEY ATTACK FIGHTERS, THEY ATTACK THE PEOPLE – HANDS OFF ROMANOS!”
