The Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (EKSED) directed the operation, which took place roughly 41 nautical miles from the island.
According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the passengers were taken on board a nearby Liberian-flagged ship and transported safely to the port of Paleochora in Crete. They were then moved to the Agia exhibition centre for temporary accommodation.
The rescue is the latest in a series of similar incidents recorded in recent days south of Crete.
