According to the Fire Service, thick smoke filled the floor housing the cardiology clinic. The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in an electrical panel and associated cabling. Twenty-two firefighters arrived at the scene with seven vehicles and brought the blaze under control within a short time.

As a precautionary measure, approximately 30 patients and staff members were moved to safe areas of the building. No injuries were reported.

The Fire Service is continuing to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
