The auditors are charged with breach of duty in connection with their handling of contract 717, relating to signalling works carried out by ERGOSE whose delayed implementation is considered a key contributing factor in the Tempi rail crime.

Demonstrators held a banner reading ‘Justice for Tempi! Stop the cover-up’ and chanted slogans linking the disaster to government policy. ‘Privatisations, cover-ups, dead people – this is the government’s policy!’ protesters shouted. Another slogan that dominated the demonstration was: ‘It was not an accident, it was murder. Down with New Democracy.’

Inside the packed courtroom, relatives of Tempi victims were also present, including Thodoris Eleftheriadis, former hunger striker Panos Routsis, and Pavlos Aslanidis, president of the Association of Relatives of Tempi Victims.
