In Athens, collectives, organisations and citizens gathered in the city centre for a rally, with pre-assembly points organised along Stadiou Street. With banners and slogans, participants highlighted demands of the feminist movement for equal treatment of women in work, education and public life, as well as effective measures to protect against gender-based violence.

During the mobilisation, demonstrators also expressed solidarity with women facing violence or social exclusion. A notable moment was the participation of a group of women from Palestine, who performed traditional dances as a message against violence and war.

Participants also referred to the industrial accident at the Violanta factory in Trikala, where five workers lost their lives. Demonstrators paid tribute to the victims and called for accountability and stronger measures to protect workers.

At the same time, issues such as equal pay, decent working conditions, strengthening the welfare state and women’s access to healthcare were highlighted. Speakers and participants also referred to recent cases of femicide in Greece.
