Speaking at New Democracy’s sixth pre-congress conference in Thessaloniki, Dendias said the drone had been spotted outside Greek territorial waters in recent days.

‘We know who they are and roughly what it contains,’ he said.

Dendias stressed that Greece is moving ahead with the development of modern maritime drone systems and anti-drone technology, highlighting cooperation with Portugal, which, he said, has the most advanced maritime drone development centre in the European Union.

According to information cited by Naftemporiki, the unmanned vessel is allegedly a Ukrainian-made MAGURA V3 and was transported to Lefkada from a base in western Libya.

The same information states that its target was ships linked to Russian interests operating in the Ionian Sea, raising serious concerns over the possible spillover of the Russia-Ukraine war into Greek territory.
