Six members of SYRIZA’s Political Secretariat have submitted an amendment to the proposal put forward by the party president, asking that it be put to a vote and incorporated into the final text of the decision.
The text is signed by Tryfon Alexiadis, Rena Dourou, Fotini Karystinaki, George Panagiotopoulos, Nikos Pappas and Pavlos Polakis. It rejects scenarios of self-dissolution, dissolution or suspension of the party, with the signatories arguing that SYRIZA should contest the next elections as an organised political party.
The amendment also proposes establishing a framework for cooperation across the broader progressive space, with the aim of drawing up a common programme and exploring the possibility of a joint electoral campaign. To that end, it points to the need for contacts with political figures and forces of the centre-left and the wider progressive camp, including Nikos Kotzias, Louka Katseli, Alexis Tsipras and the New Left.
It further includes proposals for restructuring the party’s organisation, such as the creation of an executive office, a ballot and expansion committee, a programme committee and an election organising committee.
The signatories invoke an earlier Central Committee decision, arguing that SYRIZA should pursue electoral collaborations and political realignment while retaining a leading role in such initiatives.
