The public prosecutor has brought criminal proceedings against the two police officers for attempted murder with possible intent, committed in a calm state of mind.
According to argolikeseidhseis.gr, the driver, who was of Russian origin, refused to comply with a stop signal from officers of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team (OPKE), and a pursuit followed.
The incident began in Pyrgela, with the chase continuing through Argos, Elliniko, the airport, Statheika and Monastiraki.
According to the Hellenic Police, the driver attempted to ram officers and patrol cars. When his vehicle was stopped, he allegedly attempted to flee on foot. Two police officers then allegedly shot him, critically wounding him.
According to the same media outlet, the chief of the Hellenic Police went to Nafplio to be briefed on developments in the case. The preliminary investigation has been assigned to the competent police service, which is examining all aspects of the bloody pursuit.
