According to the Fire Service, the blaze started in a basement area used to store stationery. It was contained to that section of the building and did not spread to other parts of the hospital.
The fire was brought under control following the prompt intervention of firefighters, while patients at the hospital were not placed at risk.
The circumstances surrounding the outbreak of the fire are under investigation.
