‘I don’t even want to think about it’, Trump said in an interview with conservative broadcaster Newsmax when asked about reports of potential legal proceedings involving conflicts of interest. The interviewer also asked whether he would consider granting Guilfoyle a pardon if charges were brought against her.

The US president distanced himself from the controversy, saying he had not spoken to Guilfoyle and had learned about the allegations solely through media reports.

‘I read some things, I have not spoken to her’, he said, adding: ‘The interesting thing is that she was very popular in Greece. She did a very good job as ambassador to Greece, so I am disappointed.’

Trump also acknowledged that the reports concerning the former ambassador were negative, without elaborating.

During the interview, he referred to Guilfoyle’s previous marriage to California Governor Gavin Newsom but made no mention of her former engagement to his son, Donald Trump Jr.

A Democratic committee is reportedly preparing to subpoena Guilfoyle to testify, citing Wall Street Journal reports concerning potential conflicts of interest and abuse of power.

Meanwhile, the former ambassador is embroiled in a separate legal dispute with American financier Eric Dieters, who maintains that his allegations against her are true and disputes Guilfoyle’s account of events.

Dieters files lawsuit, claims recording ‘could bring down Trump administration’

Eric Dieters, a Republican donor and supporter of Donald Trump, has filed a lawsuit against Kimberly Guilfoyle and her lawyers, escalating the controversy surrounding the former US ambassador to Greece.

According to Dieters, the legal action includes plans to subpoena Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr., as well as requests for documents from the Trump administration.

He is seeking a public apology, the retraction of specific allegations made against him and $1 million in damages.

Dieters also claims to possess a 16-minute audio recording originating from Greece, which he says contains ‘the most explosive and devastating information’ about Guilfoyle to emerge so far.

He has said he intends to make the recording public by the end of the following day.

Dieters warned that the material ‘could bring down the Trump administration’ and claimed it could also jeopardise the political prospects of a future electoral ticket featuring JD Vance and Marco Rubio.

He further suggested that the alleged revelations could have repercussions at the highest levels of the US government.
