The Ohi Day (also spelled Ochi Day or even Oxi Day because of the way it is written in Greek) celebrates the “Anniversary of the No”. It commemorates the rejection by Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas of the ultimatum made by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini on October 28, 1940, refusing to ally with the Axis forces in the War. A few hours later, Italy invaded Greece.
