Two young men were killed this afternoon and a third is heavily injured, in a motorcycle drive-by in Neo Iraklio, a suburb of Athens. The incident happened outside the offices of a Golden Dawn branch.
The party swiftly issued a statement verifying that the two dead, Manos Kapelonis, 22 years old, and Giorgos Fountoulis, 27 years old, as well as Alexandros Gerontas, 29 years old, who is critical injured, were its members. According to the statement, two men riding on a motorcycle pulled over and instantly opened fire against the victims. It characterized the hit “a terrorist attack”.
Police have sealed off the area and are patrolling the streets of Athens in search of the perpetrators. According to Greek media, the antiterrorism agency has joined the operations.

Minister of Citizen Protection, Nikos Dendias condemned the attack, adding that “everyone is equal before the law and its enforcement”
SYRIZA issued a statement saying that “tonight's attack creates destabilization and targets democracy itself. It has to be vehemently condemned and be isolated ethically, ideologically and politically”.
Leader of Independent Greeks, Panos Kammenos stated that “certain individuals are preparing to throw the country in civil war”
Stavros Lygeros, a noted commentator, said on Star television that what happened when it is “a climate of civil war”.
