As first reported by TechCrunch, students from the Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands used the LEAP motion sensor to devise a novel system to control their traditional Easter lamb roast.
The educational project began as the brainchild of Stamatis Dragoumanos, an Academic Scholar in the Business Administration School at the technical college in Lefkada. He was one of 10,000 worldwide developers selected by the company behind the technology to receive a sensor in December 2012 to help develop innovative applications.
He recently tasked his students to design a novel system based on the sensor as an exercise in their Management Information Systems curriculum. Defying the tired stereotypes of Greek youth as unimaginative and depressed, the students came up with, and built, the amusingly ground-breaking meat-roasting interface.
Welcome to a brave new world where the dream of roasting an entire lamb on a spit while simultaneously surfing the internet is a reality.
