In a speech given in common with the French President F.Hollande to the European Parliament, A.Merkel noted that the current European directives concerning those who ask for asylum in countries of the European Union are antiquated and must be replaced by a "new procedure".
“Let us be honest, the Dublin directive (according to which the refugees can only ask for political asylum at the European country of first entrance) at its current form is antiquated…I am for a new procedure” in order for the burden to be more equally spread between the countries of the E.U.
