The Greek delegation includes the Greek government spokeswoman O.Gerovasili, the Minister of foreign affairs N.Kotzias and the minister of Migrant Affairs J.Mouzalas. The visit is the result of an invitation issued towards the Greek PM during the meeting between the two PMs at the side of the UN summit.

Before leaving for Turkey, A.Tsipras had a phone conversation with the German Chancellor A.Merkel

The Greek PM is expected to talk about the establishment of hot-spots in Turkey. At the same time, he will ask that the refugees be directly forwarded to the various European countries of destination rather than being forced to attempt the dangerous, and often deadly, pass to Greece.

He is also going to explain that Greece agrees that Turkey should have financial help from the EU if it is to undertake these projects.

Athens believes that the most crucial actions should be taken against the trafficking network, the implementation of the re-entrance agreement and the coordination between the two countries in migration, policing, and coastal guarding.

For Tsipras, all these necessary points should be agreed between the EU and Turkey. Accordingly he will attempt to take the role of “mid-person” in the talks between the two sides.

At the same time, the various EU countries do not seem to share the same opinions towards the crisis, nor do they seem to be willing to imply similar policies. The recent attacks in Paris further complicate the whole project.
