The American State Secretary is officially visiting Athens. Before that, he visited Nicosia, Cyprus where he held meetings with the government in extended talks about the possibility of a solution over the Turkish occupation of part of the island.

Mr. Kerry will meet with the Greek PM A.Tsipras as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, N.Kotzias.

The recent attack of Turkey to the Russian military aircraft SU-24, and the instability the it brings to the general area will be discussed.

The recent refugee influx towards Greece from Turkey is also part of the issues to be discussed as the US is considering to freeze their visa waiver program with Greece.

Athens is anticipating some form of support regarding the issue of the national debt. On the other hand it is not clear what this support will be as the US have always expressed the opinion that the issue must be resolved but Greece will first have to do major reforms.
