While speaking in a book presentation the Minister stated that without a new pension system which would reallocate the funds from the start, there can be no stability. He also noted that it is the duty of the Finance Minister to serve towards the creation of a stable economy with income reallocation through a wide tax basis.

Tsakalotos added that, during his European tour, before the latest Eurogroup, he had the chance to discuss with six of his colleagues and he explained how there can be no new reductions in the pensions as they have already been reduced eleven times. He also described that in today's dire economic reality in Greece, a pension could serve as a basic part of the income of an entire family.

The FinMin noted that in order to change society, people must participate with their own ideas and interventions. He went on to answer indirectly to his German counterpart by paraphrasing Bill Clinton; “It is society stupid”.

The books presented have telling titles themselves; “The economy of misery”, “The misery of economy” and “Dialogues”.
