The heavy rains of the last few days have turned the camp into an endless sea of mud.
The sick children will have to be taken to Thessaloniki from now on since the nearby hospital of Kilkis has reached its capacity and can no longer provide the necessary care.
The outbreak of gastric and breathing problems is being constantly monitored by the national public health agency and, according to the head of the organization:”the outbreak that we are seeing at the moment, in our experience, does not lead to an epidemic.”
The spokesman of the administration for the management of the refugee crisis, G.Kiritsis, stated that the goal of the administration is to vacate Idomeni within the next days. At the same time he denied that there are plans to vacate the area with the help of police force:”Our plan is to bring in Idomeni lots of people who speak the languages of the refugees and to distribute flyers which will be explaining the situation as well as the fact that we have facilities available to them.” His estimate is that the bad weather will also make the refugees themselves want to leave Idomeni.
