The Europeans are expected to present Mr.Davutoglu with the deal that the leaders of the EU country members agreed on, yesterday night. Although there was no official briefing after the summit, statements by F.Hollande, A.Merkel and others revealed that the EU had decided to propose a specific deal to Turkey.
According to the Financial Times the proposals include:
-Turkey will be requested to guarantee that the refugees and migrants who will be sent back to the country, will receive a treatment in agreement with international standards
–With regards to the negotiations about Turkey becoming an EU member, Cyprus has denied to agree unless Ankara officially recognizes Nicosia. For that reason Mr.Davutoglu will be offered alternative promises and the assurance that the negotiations will start as soon as possible
-It has been agreed that Turkey will receive 6bn euros in aid until 2018. The EU leaders will promise to provide the funds if Turkey honours its part of the deal
Greece is said to have requested 4.000 personnel in order to be able to control its borders and manage the weekly influx of approximately 10.000 migrants. It was decided that each of their asylum petitions will be regarded separately.
