The worst part is that the company asked from citizens to sign against the strike of air traffic controllers all over Europe so that flights won’t be delayed or cancelled. In fact it is launching a campaign so that the European Commission will ban strikes in airports, like they are prohibited in the army!
According to the low-cost airline company, strikes must be banned to “keep Europe’s skies open”, which is also the official website’s slogan.
Regarding the Greek air traffic controllers strike, the company wrote on twitter: “Because of the strike of the air traffic controllers all our flights to/from/inside Greece are cancelled. Sign against strikes”. Then the company shared a link where it expresses its disappointment for the “mandatory” cancellation of all scheduled flights. In fact, it takes it one step further, requesting from the Greek government and the European Commission to intervene in order to “prevent any other disturbances”.
In the same announcement, the company states that “it is unfair thousand of European passengers to cancel their trips and their vacation because of strikes. We urge all passengers to sign for the campaign Keep Europe’s Skies Open, which will be presented at the European Commission and the European Parliament”.
At the petition which passengers are encouraged to sign, the air traffic controllers are described as “blackmailers”. A few days ago, Ryanair followed the same strategy in France.
