More than 300 refugees were injured, when FYROM’s police teargassed the makeshift camp of Idomeni over the fence that separates it from FYROM’s territory. Police forces also used rubber bullets which resulted to the hospitalization of at least 7 people. Greek police was also deployed to avoid further incidences.
Today, the Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos described FYROM’s behavior as unthinkable and unacceptable, stressing out that “such unimaginable and unacceptable behaviors have no place neither in the EU nor NATO”.
Antonio Costa said Greece should not bear the burden of the refugee crisis on its own and once again expressed Portugal’s support also proposing a bilateral agreement to move refugees from Greece to Portugal.
