Τhe Refugee Crisis Management Coordination Body announced out of 57.155 identified refugees and migrants, 23.675 are in northern Greece, 10.198 are hosted in the region of Attica, 8.643 on the Greek islands and 1.943 are hosted in different areas in central and southern Greece. Another 6.281 refugees and migrants are hosted in several facilities rented by the UNHCR, 4.915 are staying in non-organized facilities while approximately 1.500 persons are living outside organized facilities.
 
Meanwhile, during a conference on Monday, Greek Shipping Minister Theodoros Dritsas said the port of Piraeus and the former international airport at Elliniko in southern Athens will be evacuated by July 20. He said the speed of the evacuations will depend on how fast it takes to get official shelters ready for inhabitation.
 
Speaking at the same event, which was organized by the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and activist groups, Deputy Citizens’ Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said that about 25.000 individuals out of the roughly 57.000 currently stranded in Greece will stay in the country.
 
Greek and European authorities are making efforts to repatriate an unidentified number of economic migrants, he said. However, earlier this week, Migration Minister Yiannis Mouzalas expressed his concerns that relocations in European member states will stall longer due to the brexit vote.
