“I have never been, and I have never wanted to be, a career politician. My aim in being in politics was to get Britain out of the European Union” Nigel Farage told an audience on Monday in London.

“So I feel it's right that I should now stand aside as leader of UKIP” he added.

Nigel Farage said, after having realized his ambition of winning last month's referendum in favor of Brexit, he has done his bit and he added “What I'm saying today is – I want my life back” rephrasing the Brexit campaign slogan “we want our country back”.

Farage also resigned as leader after the 2015 general election, only to be back in the position soon after.

Farage is the latest of a number of politicians who have resigned after the UK referendum to exit the EU: Prime Minister David Cameron was first, Boris Johnson another top campaigner for Leave followed.
