A total of 96 refugees and migrants were rescued during the past 24 hours, according to data announced by the Greek Coast Guard. Of the new arrivals, 51 landed on Lesvos, 15 on Samos, 16 on Leros and 14 on Kos.

Despite the upward trend, these figures are still nowhere to be compared to the some 1.700 daily arrivals before the European Union migration deal with Turkey.

Just recently the Coast Guard has also arrested two human traffickers, one on Sunday morning near Kos who was attempting to transport 12 refugees and another later in the afternoon who was attempting to drop off 15 refugees on the east of Samos.

Based on the Refugee Crisis Management Coordination Body figures, 57.498 identified refugees and migrants were on the Greek territory on Monday. 23.193 of the refugees are in northern Greece, 10.264 are hosted in the region of Attica and 2.309 are hosted in facilities of central and southern Greece. 7.122 refugees and migrants are hosted in several facilities rented by the UNHCR, and 1.400 persons are living outside organized facilities. 8.974 refugees and migrants were recorded on the eastern Aegean islands, currently living either in makeshift camps or state facilities.
