The official twitter account of the French police announced the two men had been “neutralized”. Police sources have so far only confirmed the death the priest, who was “killed with a blade”. According to Le Point, one of the worshippers has also been killed.

Two men armed with knives, according to the French newspaper Le Figaro, took two nuns and several worshippers hostage at a church and kidnapped their priest in the French town of Rouvray, near Rouen. Local media say that a female worshipper alerted the police.
Firefighters, special police forces and anti-terror units, came to the scene, and said that there were several people wounded in the attack, RTL France media outlet reported.
It not yet clear who the hostage takers were and what were the motives behind the attack.

However, this is the latest in a string of incidents both in France and Germany in recent weeks, including a truck attack in Nice earlier in the month that killed 84 people, and a suicide bombing in southern Germany Sunday night that wounded 15. Both attacks have been claimed by the Islamic State.
