61% of wage earners in Greece make under the monthly average of €1,002 a month, while 1 in 5 of them (331,918) earn an average of €445, according to an annual report for 2014, presented by the Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis this week.

One in two (51%) of those earning under the monthly average are aged between 30 and 44.

Although down from its highest point, the Greek unemployment rate is still dazzling at around 26%, and 40% of those that do have a job earn between €501 and €1000 per month.

The report also said that the number of people earning between €1.001 and €3,000 or more has dropped significantly to 39% from 44% last year.

Greece emerged recently emerged from a six-year economic recession which saw more than 100,000 businesses shut down and almost one in four Greek households living frighteningly close to the poverty line.
