When asked about the results of the meeting which took place on Wednesday in Brussels in order to bridge the gap between the European institions and those of the IMF Annika Breidtheardt clarified that the Commission does not confirm that such a meeting has been held yet she stated that:

“What I can say is that many discussions are taking place, at the moment, between several institutions which are connected to the program and these talks are showing progress”.

It should be noted that in the past few days, a difference of opinion between the EU (Commission and ECB) and the IMF has become publicly known for the first time. The differences are found in the cost analysis of the fiscal measurers that must be implied further in Greece.

The IMF is understood to be holding a tougher stance towards Greece. The Greek FinMin E,Tsakalotos has recently been critical about the role of the fund in the whole evaluation process.

On Wednesday a “secret” dinner took place between the various institutions. The discussion concerned those exact subjects while an effort was made in order to find common grounds between the parts.

The latest information, wants the IMF to have softened its position regarding the GNP deficit as well as he fiscal measures which will be demanded from Athens.

Fears about the refugee crisis as well as the pressure imposed by a possible Brexit are said to have made Brussels adopt a more understanding, less demanding stance towards Greece.
