When digital activist Sissy Fragho, known simply as Sissy on Instagram and TikTok, told me that she had ‘managed to make contact’ and arrange a short interview with Explosive Media, the creators of the resistance-themed Lego videos that won all our hearts from the very first day of the Ramadan War, I admit I was more envious of her for that than for having travelled to Iran to cover this beloved and remarkable people’s farewell to their assassinated religious leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

And yes, it was their spirit, their integrity, their humour, their attention to detail and everything else that set their work apart then and continues to do so.

I had written to them again and again without ever receiving a reply. Understandably, a Greek media outlet is unlikely to rank among their highest priorities. They are themselves an important part of the information war, so priority must go to outlets that reach critical audiences, audiences capable of exerting pressure for peace.

But Sissy succeeded. She received answers to all her questions, brief but substantial. The interview that follows was given to her, translated by the present writer and is presented here alongside some of Explosive Media’s finest videos.

What do you think was the thing that made your videos viral in the first place?

First of all, I believe it was God’s grace. We don’t see ourselves as the reason for any of this. Then, I think it was the power and legacy of our martyred leader. After that, I think people around the world have grown tired of decades of lies and propaganda. If people were once living inside an aquarium of misinformation, Israel’s actions in Gaza shattered that aquarium. Now people are searching for the truth. And I believe that, by nature and instinct, human beings are always drawn toward the truth.

How did you feel when you saw Americans lip syncing and choreographing your songs?

It makes us very happy. They are our friends, and we are proud of them. I hope that one day we’ll have the chance to meet them in person.

How does it feel to have inspired revolutionary groups around the world to adopt your style? In Greece, for example, a group campaigning for the closure of the major US military base at Souda Bay in Crete has begun producing similar videos.

We love all of them very much. We hope we’ve managed to light a candle in this dark world. And one day, that candle will grow into a storm that blows away the dark spells of the Epstein circle.

What are the things you don’t like about the current Iranian government?

We don’t discuss our country’s internal criticisms with foreign audiences.
