According to the Global Sumud Flotilla live tracker, the Greek mission vessel Kyriakos X has been intercepted and its members detained.
March to Gaza Greece has called for a rally at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Athens at 6pm.
According to the Global Sumud Flotilla, at least six vessels from the International Freedom Flotilla, which consists of 54 ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, have already been intercepted.
As shown on the live tracker, the Greek mission vessel Kyriakos X was among the first to fall victim to Israeli piracy off the coast of Cyprus.
The remaining ships in the flotilla are on standby.
In a statement, March to Gaza confirmed what it described as an Israeli act of piracy, stressing the complicity of every state that supports the genocidal state of Israel politically, economically and militarily. It called for rallies across Greece. In Athens, the gathering is scheduled for 6pm at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement reads:
‘It was confirmed a short time ago that the Israeli navy, following its usual practices, carried out a new act of piracy against the Global Sumud Flotilla. Through interference, dangerous approaches, counterattacks and threats of violence, in the maritime search and rescue zone of the Cypriot state, this action constitutes a clear act of piracy and must be stopped immediately.
‘Responsibility lies with Israel and every state that has supported it politically, economically and militarily. For three years, Israel has been carrying out an unprecedented genocide against the population of Gaza and multiple attacks on neighbouring states, illegally occupying territories in three countries.
‘The peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iran know what it means to be in the crosshairs of the “only democracy in the region”.
‘We call on people of conscience, the free people of the world, to unite their voices.
‘Let us fight:
‘No cooperation with Israel. No support for those who support it, whether businesses, institutions or governments.
‘Solidarity with Palestine: respect the rights of the Palestinian people.
‘Freedom for the flotilla activists: we will bring them all back.
‘We call for a gathering in Athens and across the country:
‘Athens, 6pm at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
