The two police officers, who allegedly shot the young man in the back of the head during the chase, were brought before the judicial authorities, while the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting continues.

The officers appeared at the Nafplio courts to give their statements. However, they requested and were granted until Friday to prepare their defence.

So far, 13 shell casings have been identified during the inspection of the scene, while investigations are continuing because of the terrain, as the area is rural. The results of ballistic and forensic examinations are still awaited.

The injured man was initially transferred to Argos Hospital, where, according to initial information, doctors found two wounds from bullet fragments.

It was then deemed necessary to transfer him to Thriasio Hospital, where he was rushed into surgery and admitted to the neurosurgery clinic.

According to hospital sources, the patient was transferred intubated, with mydriasis and a gunshot wound to the head.

‘Today, at around 6.30am, a young man of approximately 25 years of age, whose identity was unknown, was brought intubated to the Thriasio emergency department from the Argos Hospital emergency department, with mydriasis and a gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately admitted to the operating room and remains in the neurosurgery clinic. He is brain dead,’ hospital sources said.

Later in the day, it was decided that he would be transferred to KAT hospital.
