Kantas reveals another ‘Siemens’

Arms dealer P. Efstathiou and 30 officers involved in bribery scheme

10 billion euros worth of procurement contracts during Tsochatzopoulos-Sbokos tenure under the microscope

A Tsochatzopoulos-type investigation is now underway at Efstathiou’s Kolonaki offices by Greek and German prosecutors.

There are ledgers with lists of the people who gave and received money for defense procurement contracts. Yet again a German giant is at the heart of the case – this time Rheinmetall.

“I only took the money so as not to block the procurement deals,” Kantas said to the special magistrate. The chain of bribery led from the defense ministry leadership to officers on the rigged committees.

Suspects have been called for interrogation. Arrests of military officers, businessmen and even politicians may be imminent. How the pyramid of dirty money payments worked and what procurement programs are being investigated. Investigating authorities ask, “If Kantas got 15.7 million, how much did the ‘big fish’ get?”
