Just a month before the European Elections, with his party prosecuted for their criminal actions and at the same time polling from 7 to 10 per cent for the upcoming European elections, high ranking Golden Dawn member Ilias Panagiotaros acknowledges everything his comrades have been vehemently denying against all evidence: “Hitler was a great personality”, and “homosexuality is a sickness” are just two examples of the hate speech that shocked the Australian journalist interviewing Panagiotaros – who is also running for the prefecture of Attica –  for NineMSN's 60 Minutes.

The MP's remarks are seen by some as kicking the retorhic up a notch as a final push before the elections, and also as part of the party's larger strategy of going on the offensive. Earlier this month, another Golden Dawn MP – and candidate for mayor of Athens – Ilias Kasidiaris, released a video of a private conversation between himself and the government's Secretary General, where the latter acknowledged that his government put pressure on the judiciary to prosecute Golden Dawn, for political reasons.
