A court in the town of Kalamata, southern Greece, passed sentence on five men who had been involved in a scheme of issuing fake invoices and then demanding VAT rebates from tax authorities.  

Three men got life imprisonment. Another man, who had shown remorse and returned the money he had received via rebate, got a lighter sentence of 20 years in prison. A fifth man was found innocent.
