During the joint Press Conference which he gave along with the President of Armenia, the Greek PM said: “Yesterday we had an unacceptable occurrence, the encouragement of those people by unknown people, possibly even from groups which identify as volunteers, to either stay at the border are or to walk in harsh conditions in order to cross the borderline.”
“We urge the refugees of Edomeni to abandon the effort to remain in the area, there is no possibility that those who closed the borders will re-open them”, he said while pointing that those who goad them into staying or trying to cross the borders are behaving criminally against unprotected people.
Mr.Tsipras asked the refugees to get to the welcome centres “and from there on we will all work together to speed up the procedures towards their legal transfer to Europe via the acceleration of the relocation process.”
