“I have decided to convene a Euro Summit Monday. Time to discuss the situation of Greece at highest political level”, tweeted MR. Tusk earlier today while he also stated that: “the Euro Summit will put an end to the illusion that there is a magical solution”.  He continued to warn Greece that there is no time for games but he also clarified that the Euro Summit need not be the final step.

While explaining the reason why he decided to call the Euro Summit, Mr. Tusk noted that after four months of negotiations with the new Greek government, no compromise has been reached and there only remain eleven days until the end of the current rescue plan for Greece.

“The game of chicken needs to end, and so does the blame game. Because this is not a game and there is no time for any games,” Tusk said and he continued: “We are close to the point where the Greek government will have to choose between accepting what I believe is a good offer of continued support or to head towards default. At the end of the day, this is and can only be a Greek decision and a Greek responsibility,”
