The US secretary also expressed his concern that a wrong move could rekindle the Greek crisis, something that could affect the rest of the world.
In a recent talk at the London school of economics, Mr. Lew maintained that the challenge which is presented to the Europeans; the politicians, the financial institutions as well as the IMF, is that they need to be quite flexible.”  Mr. Lew went on to add that “…if the Greeks are prepared to take the necessary, yet painful, steps, they will find a path which will lead to a solution without a new, aimless crisis.”
His position that the institutions must demonstrate enough flexibility so that pointless crises are avoided, given that Greece is willing to make the necessary changes, is considered to be an indirect message towards the IMF.
