In an interview he gave to the French site Mediapart, the former Finance Minister revealed that: “Together with Alexis we used to say, every day, every month that went by, that if they (the creditors) forced us to accept one more loan-a killer loan- which would bring us to our knees, we would then give the keys of our ministries to the opposition and tell them: You have signed such a deal before, you agree to it, here take the keys too”. In the end the Prime Minister did not chose to do that, he concludes.

Mr.Varoufakis went on to say that he realized that he was being undermined after the EuroSummit of Riga on April 27. Regarding F.Hollande, he noted that :”If you look at the way he behaved during the negotiations, in particular the one between him, Merkel and Tsipras, it becomes clear that he was simply present but had no role. That is something that the French should know”.

With regards to the Greek Plan B, the ex FinMin clarified that: “It was not something irrational , immoral, or illegal; it was simply a plan to punish those who would try to punish Greece by closing its banks”.

Finally, Mr.Varoufakis criticized for one more time the policy that was decided towards Greece, calling it “19th century politics”; “they crushed a proud peoples in order to demonstrate to other peoples that opposition is not a good thing”.
