(Antetokounmpo play at 2.15 mark)

Giannis Antetokounmpo may only be a little over month into his first NBA season but the Milwaukee Buck rookie already appears to be more than living up to his promise. Certainly many more in the US will be trying to get to grips with his name following a stunning play in Milwaukee’s Saturday home match against the Celtics.

In his 28 minutes on the court the 18-year old racked up ten points, seven rebounds and four assists.

But even more importantly Antetokoumpo is credited with having provided the spark that helped Milwaukee beat the Celtics by 13 points and end their 11-game losing streak.

That moment came early on with Milwaukee down by 8 when the Greek national thundered down the court behind Celtics guard Jordan Crawford and blocked his shot from behind, igniting a break which Antetokounmpo himself finished with an impressive dunk.

The play electrified the crowd and justifiably topped the official NBA’s top-ten list of plays of the day.

Antetokounmpo is a Greek of Nigerian descent who began his basketball career in Greece with the Filathlitikos youth team. In 2013 he was picked 15th overall in the first round of the NBA draft, signing a rookie contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. At 2.06m tall and 18 years old he is the youngest player currently in the NBA.
