This price hike follows the cessation of the permanent price reduction measure, which had previously lowered supermarket prices by 5-10% as of May 31st.

The deposit-refund system (DRS) will result in a price increase of €0.10 – €0.15 per item because of the higher costs of plastic, aluminium, and glass bottles.

According to the Official Government Gazette published two months ago, the deposit-refund system will apply to single-use packaging of aluminium (up to 1 litre), glass (up to 1.3 litres), and plastic (up to 3 litres). These packaging types are used for products such as beer, wine, water, soft drinks, juices, instant drinks, and milk.
