The operation comes just two days after 74 migrants arrived at the port of Gavdos, highlighting the increasing use of southern Crete as a key route for boats carrying people fleeing hardship in Asia and Africa.
The rescued migrants were transferred by a Coast Guard vessel to the port of Kalamaki.
