According to a report by national broadcaster ERT, the container, considered a crucial element in the Tempe case, was located in a transport company’s warehouse in Kalochori, Thessaloniki. The container was transported to Larissa for expert examination, following an order by the appellate investigator. The container is now in Koulouri, where all the evidence from the accident is being gathered.

Last week, relatives of the victims requested the appointment of special metallurgical experts to examine the containers of both the commercial and passenger trains.

Nikos Plakias explained the container’s transportation from Thessaloniki to Larissa in a public post:

“Given the recent discussions about the container being transported to Larissa’s Koulouri area, where other train cars are also located, I want to clarify the situation. The container was transported today to Larissa following the appellate investigator’s order to be checked by experts, requested by a family. The container had been stored in the transport company’s warehouse after an initial inspection, along with the rest of the commercial train’s cargo, in Thessaloniki.

During the initial inspection, nothing unusual was found in the container—only food, as the bill of lading indicated. Therefore, it was returned to the owner. The coroner has now requested to examine the container for bumps and dents to see if any material related to the explosion can be recovered.

This information is provided to dispel any speculative theories.”
