Kidney Patients Federation calls for auction of dialysis patient’s home to be cancelled
In particular, the Federation is demanding the cancellation of the auction of the man’s home and urging authorities to find a permanent solution to safeguard the main residence of kidney patients, people with chronic illnesses, and individuals with disabilities.
In a letter sent on Thursday, 29 May, to the Minister of Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Federation expressed strong protest and deep concern over the distressing events the elderly man and his wife have endured. Both are in fragile health and have been subjected to repeated evictions from their home.
According to the Federation, this is the third time police and a bailiff have entered the property, forcing the couple to move their belongings into the street – despite the existing court ruling that clearly allows them to stay in their home until 2026.
