An inflatable boat carrying 65 refugees and migrants was identified on Saturday by a Frontex vessel in waters south of Gavdos, the southernmost Greek island, located to the south of its much larger neighbour, Crete. The passengers, reported to be in good health, were safely escorted to the port of Karave.

Although migratory flows south of Crete have declined in recent months, arrivals have not ceased. Authorities say they continue to monitor the area closely as part of efforts to manage crossings in the eastern Mediterranean.
