The farmers reportedly tried to obstruct the bypass at that point, entering the national road with their tractors and on foot.
Speaking to ERT, Dimoglidou said that the actions captured in widely circulated videos “seriously endangered the safety of passing drivers and passengers, as well as the farmers themselves”.
The video shows tractors entering the motorway through an opening in the barrier, while some farmers walk on the road holding flags and attempting to signal approaching vehicles.
