According to a statement issued by Ms. Syrengela, the decision to pursue legal action was a “one-way street”, as she claims that Ms. Konstantopoulou persists in linking her with Kalliopi Semertzidou, who is under investigation by OPEKEPE for illegal subsidies. Ms. Syrengela denies that Ms. Semertzidou is her collaborator, stressing that she has repeatedly rejected this claim.
The same statement adds that the president of Course of Freedom has also addressed the MP using derogatory characterisations, allegedly implying that she is connected to criminal elements.
“Political disagreement is legitimate and desirable, provided it is conducted with political decency and without ‘mud-slinging’,” the statement notes.
Maria Syrengela has also stated that, should she win the case and be awarded compensation, the money will be donated to organisations working to prevent and address violence against women.
